Confronting Antisemitism: Activating Archives, Libraries, and Museums in the Fight Against Antisemitism

 

האלימות האנטישמית עולה בחדות והופכת נפוצה יותר, מה שמעיד על כך שתוכניות קיימות ופתרונות מסורתיים אינם מספיקים. כארגונים ציבוריים מהימנים עם קהלים מגוונים, כיצד יכולים מוסדות תרבות להשתמש בכוחות הייחודיים שלהם כדי להילחם באנטישמיות וליצור שינוי מתמשך?

שאלה זו היא בבסיס הסימפוזיון :

התמודדות עם האנטישמיות: הפעלת ארכיונים, ספריות ומוזיאונים במאבק באנטישמיות.

הסימפוזיון התאפשר על ידי קרן דוד ברג וקרן לאון לוי, ומופעל וירטואלית על ידי המרכז להיסטוריה יהודית ו- jMUSE

במפגש בינלאומי חסר תקדים זה יופיעו ספרן הקונגרס, ארכיונאי ארצות הברית, מנכ"ל הספרייה הלאומית לישראל, מנהיגי תרבות, מנהלי מוזיאונים, נשיאי אוניברסיטה והיסטוריונים.

נושאי הסימפוזיון ינועו מנקודות מבט מוזיאוניות על האנטישמיות המודרנית ועד הכחשת השואה ורביזיוניזם במוסדות ציבור, וכלה בתיעוד האנטישמיות ובחינת המקורות מדוע היא ממשיכה להתמיד, והסכנות שהיא מציבה בפני חברה חופשית.

 

 

Antisemitic violence is sharply rising and becoming more prevalent, indicating that existing programs and traditional solutions are not enough.
As trusted public organizations with diverse audiences, how can cultural institutions use their unique strengths to combat antisemitism and create lasting change?
 
a symposium made possible by the David Berg Foundation and the Leon Levy Foundation,
and presented virtually by the Center for Jewish History and jMUSE on Sunday, October 17, 2021.
 
This unprecedented international gathering will feature the Librarian of Congress, Archivist of the United States,
Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Israel, Cultural Leaders, Museum Directors, University Presidents,
and Historians.
Symposium topics will range from museum perspectives on modern-day antisemitism to Holocaust denial
and revisionism in public institutions, to documenting antisemitism and examining the sources of why it continues to persist,
and the dangers it poses to a free society.
